Pastor’s Column
I want to thank the choir and Scott Anderson for the wonderful music of the past two weeks. It was a thrill to see the loft filled with people lifting their voices in praise on Palm Sunday and Easter. What a joy it was to see the children process in with Palm Branches in their hands on Palm Sunday. We were fortunate to have Doug Owens lead our music, Jae Chun lead us in prayer and Lenny Moore deliver the sermon for the sunrise service. That was followed by a delicious breakfast prepared by Joe, Jean and Sarah Howard. I am appreciative of Richard Thompson for filling in for Scott last Sunday. We are favored in having talented people in our church. It was a thrill to see Micah Bibbey dedicated. There were a lot of Ortmans here last Sunday and it was good to see them, along with our other guests. John and Jenifer Wilkerson had their grandchildren here. I offer a big thank you to those who purchased lilies for the sanctuary, as well as to Bonnie Althoff for her amazing gift in arranging floral displays.
Kathy and I had a wonderful visit to see our youngest son and his family over spring break. Monday, April 18, was Patriots Day in Massachusetts. It was a holiday. It is good to visit other places and see the pride people take in our country. I never knew that restaurants in New England would have such items as the Betsy Ross Pancakes or Liberty Bell Omelets on their menus.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday.
Your Pastor,
Wayne

WOMEN’S MINISTRY
WOMEN’S MORNING BIBLE STUDY

We will meet on the following dates: April 26th, May 10th and 24th. You may contact Nancy Jones at 488-6602 with any questions
MONTHLY BUSINESS MEETING
Our next Business Meeting will be Wednesday, May 18th, at 6:30 p.m.
Annie Armstrong Easter Offering®
“Start Here”
2011 National AAEO Goal:
“When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest,’” (Matthew 9:36-38, HCSB).
The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® is much more than an offering envelope and an annual missions-giving emphasis. When people give to the offering, 100 percent of their gift will be transformed into missionary salaries and ministry supplies. Those missionaries and supplies will help others hear the message of Christ and respond in faith to His offer of salvation. Our LABC goal is $3,000.00. We have received $839.00 toward our goal. Won’t you consider how you can contribute to this outreach effort?
SENIOR NEWS
May 15th will be our day to be honored. It is Senior Adult Sunday! Please plan to join us for the 10:45 a.m. Unified Service on Sunday, May 15th, as we celebrate Senior Adult Sunday. It will be a time of Senior-oriented blessings with testimonies and special music. Following the service will be a Luncheon for all who are 50 and better.
LIBRARY NEWS
We are glad so many of you are taking advantage of our growing library. Many borrowed books have been out for a very long time. Have you looked around home yet to see if you have one or more books from the Library? Please return it to the Library desk when you finish. Thank you!
MARK YOUR CALENDAR!
WOMEN’S SPRING TEA
“A Recipe for a Godly Life”
All LABC women, girls, and friends are invited to join us for our Women’s Spring Tea on Saturday, May 14th, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. We will be having a great time of fellowship, special music, a light snack, a variety of teas, and a program entitled “A Recipe for a Godly Life,” presented by Faye Owens. Please bring a favorite recipe with a favorite Bible verse at the bottom, and sign your name, to share that day. There will be special music and a game or two. Tickets will be $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children, and are available. There is a sign-up sheet outside the OFH.
Family Cookbook
The youth are putting together a new LABC Family Cookbook. All proceeds from the
cookbook will go towards this year’s mission trip to New York City. We need your help! Think about your mom, dad, grandma, brother, sister, aunt, friend, or current or former church member. What was your favorite thing they made that you may even make today? When you share the recipe for the cookbook, we would ask you to also share a memory of why that recipe is so special. Maybe talk about how your Grandmother always made the recipe on Easter or a church member also made it for church potlucks. Please give Cindy Peck or Sally Reed up to five of your favorite recipes and the story that goes with them. All recipes need to be received by Sunday, May 15th.
LADIES COFFEE “KLATSCH”
Ladies, we invite you to join us on Thursday mornings at 9:00 a.m., at Panera Bread at Tremont. You will find Christian fellowship, encouragement, all while you enjoy a good cup of coffee! Call Kathy Leach for more information.
STOWE UPDATE
Dear LABC family,
We served 348 people at Stowe Baptist Center Soup Kitchen in April. I would like to especially thank Paul and Bonnie Althoff, Bill Coulter, and Kelley Thorson and her friend Susie, who helped prepare and serve the meal. Mary Lou Dodson surprised us again by providing wonderful Easter cakes for dessert! Their love and service to God’s people is most appreciated. With Columbus city schools on spring break, this was one of our largest groups ever! I could not do it without your prayers, financial support, and willingness to cook, and to go and serve as needed. With the increase in the number of people we are serving, there is a need for more people to help. A sign-up sheet has been placed outside the OFH, for those who would like to signup to help. Three people in addition to me are needed to travel to Stowe on the third Tuesday of every month. We cook on the third Monday of every month, and then serve on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. I’d love to have you participate any way you can. This ministry is greatly needed. I appreciate all of your efforts so much. Your sister-in-Christ, Kathy Leach
