Pastor’s Column
This week the basic commitment we are exploring is Fellowship. Last Sunday morning the video introduced our theme. I am appreciative for the RA’s who acted in the skit and their leaders who helped behind the scenes: Robert Eggleton, Mark Hunt and Doug Lamberson. Thank you, Tracy, for filming it and Jeff Keip for editing it. Last Sunday evening we displayed fellowship by hosting the Columbus International Children’s Choir. What a talented group of children we had here! The children played instruments and sang with such joy and talent! Afterwards, we entertained them with Graeter’s Ice Cream. The hallway was filled with people in line to savor their favorite flavor.
This coming Sunday (October 31) we have Friend Day, the day we bring to church the friends we have invited to join us for worship and Bible study. I have had a wonderful response to my personal invitation for that day. After the second service, we will have lunch at the church. Each Sunday School class is providing a side item in quantity (to serve at least 100 people) and the church will provide the meat, bread and drinks. This is the second opportunity for us to participate in 10 church-wide fellowships in the course of a year.
The theme for Friend Day is Outreach. That is our focus for the fourth week of the ten week emphasis on ten basic commitments. To us has been entrusted Good News. We are the ones who share our love and faith with others. What a privilege is ours to be witnesses for our Savior. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are part of the church, the Body of Christ. For the well-being of the body, each member has a vital part to play in building up that body into the fullness of Christ. That means that we are called to commitment. So, we are remembering ten basic commitments we make to God and one another.
October 31 is the fifth Sunday of the month, and the Finance Committee is encouraging us to catch up on our giving. We have the opportunity to set aside an extra gift for God for all of his tender mercies.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday. We will continue this great spiritual journey together.

Make sure to mention “Lane Avenue Baptist Youth Fundraiser” when ordering!

College News: Update!
Thursdays @ 7:30pm – IV Weekly Meetings @ Ohio State campus, Pomerene Hall 306
It has been an exciting time at OSU! At InterVarsity’s first weekly meeting of the year, 9 students made decisions to commit their lives to Christ! One freshmen student came up to me afterwards and said: "Since I’ve come to OSU I have been thinking about what kind of person I am going to be in college . . .when you were describing being follower of Jesus, I realized that is exactly who I want to be." This is such a great picture of what I long to see Jesus do on campus: transform students into dynamic followers of Christ, who pursue God’s purposes both on campus and for the rest of their lives.
Thank you for your prayers and support of college ministry!
In Christ, Rachel

STOWE UPDATE
Dear LABC family,
We served 276 people at Stowe Baptist Center Soup Kitchen in October. I would like to especially thank Karen, Benjamin, Caitlyn, and Jillian Keip, who helped prepare and serve the meal. Their love and service to God’s people is most appreciated. I could not do it without your prayers, financial support, and willingness to cook, and to go and serve as needed. With the increase in the number of people we are serving, there is a need for more people to help. A sign-up sheet has been placed outside the OFH, for those who would like to signup to help. Three people in addition to me, are needed to travel to Stowe on the third Tuesday of every month. We cook on the third Monday of every month, and then serve on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. I’d love to have you participate any way you can. This ministry is greatly needed. I appreciate all of your efforts so much. Your sister-in-Christ, Kathy Leach
