Youth News
Dear Parents and Youth,
It is hard to believe that school is already back in session! Vacations are over, (if you actually managed to get one) and it’s time to get serious and hit the books. Fall sports are underway and kick-off for the Buckeyes season opener is less than ten days away! The summer months do give us the opportunity to be a little more lax, sleep in, and enjoy schedule-free days. However, that sometimes gets us out of a pattern of regular Sunday school and worship attendance. I am looking forward to getting back on schedule and seeing all of you again in the coming months. In a couple of weeks (September 12) we will also begin youth discipleship on Sunday evenings. Our high school youth will begin a study called "The Red Stuff," focusing on the words of Christ. Our middle school youth will begin a study called "Tuff Stuff," dealing with the tough issues with which youth wrestle everyday.
PARENTAL HELP NEEDED! Following youth discipleship on Sunday evenings, I need parents to supply snack suppers. You can sign up on the list in the church foyer, or volunteer via e-mail. Please volunteer if your youth participates on Sunday evenings. The more that volunteer, the fewer times that each of us will need to volunteer. Select at least 1-2 dates in the fall months: September 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24; November 7, 21; December 5. I will include the months of January through May after the September through December dates are filled.
BE A MISSIONARY! School has started and one of our youth has responded! However, I also need adults to step up to the plate and form a team. PRAY ABOUT THIS! Good News Club leaders are desperately needed! Be a missionary in your own neighborhood! Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) is expanding to Tremont Elementary School in UA. The local representative for CEF in UA would like for LABC to be the sponsor church for this ministry. I need a couple of adults and youth (and graduates) to commit for this school year. It only takes place once a week after school. Please prayerfully consider this ministry and the impact we can have on our church community and the children and families associated with Tremont Elementary. This is also an opportunity to invite families to LABC, and grow our church. There is a training event on Sept. 11. Contact me ASAP if you are interested.
WE ARE HAVING A PARTY! Arch and Cheryl DeBoard have once again offered there home to us for a "back to school/end of summer pool party!" It takes place THIS SUNDAY, AUGUST 29 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The weather report looks great, so bring your bathing suit for the pool and enjoy swimming, the trampoline, hoops, etc. BRING a two-liter and your favorite snack or dessert. We will supply the pizza. Also, don’t forget to invite your friends, and keep inviting them to youth discipleship in the coming weeks. They don’t have to bring any pop or dessert since they are our guests and you can cover for them. College students and LABC Youth alumni are invited as well!
All the best to Allison Harper, (at Marshall U.) Sarah Howard and Erica Thorson (both attending OSU). Allison has already left for school and Sarah and Erica will begin in the coming weeks. I will miss the three of them as they transition into the college group and onto the LABC Youth alumni mailing list. Wow! Time really flies!
Sincerely in Christ,
Tracy

What does repentance mean? Repentance is when a person turns away from a behavior or belief, and commits their life to change. Have you experienced true repentance? Please read the daily scripture passages in advance. It won’t take long!
