Dear Parents and Youth,

     It’s hard to believe school is beginning next week! Where did the summer go? I know many of you are bummed out, but think of all the fun times we had this summer with the mission trip, Alive, VBS, softball, etc. Well, the fun doesn’t have to end with the beginning of school. We will soon be meeting together again on Sunday evenings, and to celebrate, we are having a big "end-of-summer" party at the Deboard’s! The party will take place on Sunday, August 29 from 3pm until 8pm. Bring your swim suits to cool off in the pool, your favorite snack or dessert and a two liter of your favorite beverage. Pizza will be provided. Don’t forget to bring your friends too! You can cover for them on the snack and two-liter since they are your guests.

     Youth discipleship will be starting on September 13. I will need parents to provide snack suppers. If your youth participates in the Sunday evening activities, please volunteer. The more that volunteer, the fewer snack suppers each of us will have to provide. Please sign up for 1-2 of the following dates: (Once these are filled, I will have parents sign up for the the dates beginning after the new year. SEPT. 12, 19, 26; OCT. 3, 10, 17, 24; NOV. 2, 21; DEC. 5.

    BE A MISSIONARY! One youth has responded! I need adults too, to make a complete team. Good News Club leaders are needed! Be a missionary in your own neighborhood! Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) is expanding to Tremont Elementary School in UA. The local representative for CEF in UA would like for LABC to be the sponsor church for this ministry. I need a couple of adults and youth (and graduates) to commit for this school year. It only takes place once a week after school. Please prayerfully consider this ministry and the impact we can have on our church community and the children and families associated with Tremont Elementary. This is also an opportunity to invite families to LABC, and grow our church. There is a training event on Sept. 11. Contact me ASAP if you are interested.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CHILD OF GOD? Did you know that when you place your faith in Jesus, that you are "adopted" into His family forever? That means we are all brothers and sisters in Christ when we accept Jesus in our hearts! We are one big happy family! What an awesome concept! Please read the scriptures for this week.
